A couple of ongoing frustrations: Date format and favorites

Hello, helpful and generous people.

I have two ongoing frustrations unresolved by file maintenance, re-indexing and other tricks so far. They are:

  1. An inability to change the date format in my daily journal. I have been able to do this in the past but just cannot get it to work now. (settings>editor>preferred date format)

  2. An inability to add anything to my favorites even though a bunch used to be there. (settings>add to favorite)

I’d be delighted to have your help resolving this little things.
