Logseq creates backup files when there’s some kind of conflict writing changes to the file. This can happen when using cloud providers (especially with iCloud and Dropbox). The previous version is always saved when there’s a sync conflict, so you can always roll back a version.
With Logseq Sync (in beta), file versioning is built-in:
