Discussion: Is git the only truly reliable self-hosted sync for multiple devices in 2025?

Good news, we can now self host the sync service as Cloudflare DOs, and some users are looking into open source ways of self hosting! Discord

I struggled with this - I had horrible corruption when trying to use nextcloud.

I have two Pop! OS desktops and an android phone syncing. The only way I could get anything remotely acceptable was to use tmux and install the git binaries with apt.

Has anything changed on MD? I primarily use Android, rotating between a dozen devices. I use several file based sync tools, liking Foldersync via Dropbox, but don’t think that part matters.

I’ve found it critical to CLOSE Logseq then initiate a sync at the end of every session. When I pick up a new device I check the app is closed then initiate a sync before opening.

When in doubt I Refresh and Re-index, and also test moving graph folders.

I NEVER edit in two places without going through the above first.

Are there really tools that safely allow for that?
