Option to propagate updates of templates to existing copies

As I am beginning to use templates and attributes for organisation, the templates are organically growing and becoming more useful. Currently, updating a template doesn’t propagate to the existing pages using that template: Templates - how to create, edit, and insert? However, this functionality would be very useful to buildup and maintain consistency.
