Community guidelines

To keep the Logseq Community a safe and encouraging place to learn togther, we’ve set the following guidelines as a community:

This is a public place for friendly conversations

Please treat this discussion forum with the same respect you would in a public park. The Logseq forum is also a shared community resource, one where we come together to share skills, knowledge, and interests through civilized conversations.

We don’t impose strict rules, but encourage everyone to keep these guidelines in mind to keep conversations positive and uplifting.

Always aim to improve the conversation

Help make this forum a great place by always trying to improve the conversation in some way, however small. If you’re not sure if your post adds to the discussion or may actually add noise, think about what you want to say and try again later.

Always be respectful of people and the topics they’re discussing, even if you don’t agree what’s being said.

Another way you can improve the conversation is by seeing what’s conversations are already taking place. Take the time to search the forum before starting a new conversation; maybe there’s already one going on that you can participate in.

Disagree is a healthy way

Disagreeing with others is normal, but never attack anyone personally. Criticize ideas, not people. We’re all here to learn and grow, not to take apart fellow humans with similar feelings like ours. Under no circumstance does our community allow:

  • Name-calling.
  • Ad hominem attacks.
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its content.

Instead, always aim to improve the conversation by way of reasoned counter-arguments.

Your participation always counts

What’s being said on the forum sets the tone for future conversations. Help shape the community’s future by engaging in conversations that are positive and avoiding the ones that are negative. No matter how harsh the criticism, say it in a friendly way.

Our forum platform gives you several tools to help identify the best (and worst) contributions: favorites, bookmarks, likes, flags, replies, edits, etc. Use these tools to improve your own experience, and everyone else’s.

See a problem? Flag it

Moderators are here to help keep the forum a nice place to be. But your help is crucial, too.

When you see bad behavior, don’t reply. Don’t feed trolls, as it will only encourage their negative behavior. Instead, flag it. If a post gets flagged enough, either and automated action or one by a moderator will be taken.

In order to maintain our community, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. Moderators do not preview new posts in any way; the moderators and site operators take no responsibility for any content posted by the community.

Always be civil

Nothing kills a conversation like rudeness. Apart from what’s been said so far, always:

  • Be civil. Don’t post anything that could be considered offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
  • Keep it clean. Logseq and its community is for people of all ages. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
  • Respect each other. Don’t harass, grief, impersonate, or expose people’s private information.
  • Respect our community. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the community.

As you see, these are not precise definitions. We call on everyone to use their common sense when posting something. When in doubt, ask yourself: “Would I want my message to appear on the front page of a large newspaper or social network?

Everything you post on this forum is indexed by search engines, so keep your language, links, and images safe for family and friends.

Keep it tidy

We’re here to share skills and knowledge, so let’s help each other by making things easy to find. Keep these guidelines in mind when deciding if and where to post something:

  • Start topics in the right category.
  • Don’t cross-post the same things in multiple categories.
  • Don’t post replies that don’t have any content.
  • Use the like button instead of replying with “+1” or “agreed.”
  • Don’t go off-topic in the middle of a conversation; create a new topic instead.
  • Don’t use signatures in your posts; every post already has your profile info attached.

Only post your own stuff

Under no circumstance are you allowed to share someone else’s content without their explicit permission. You may not post descriptions of, links to, or methods for stealing someone’s intellectual property (software, video, audio, images), or for breaking any other law.

Only post content that is publicly available, like YouTube videos or links to website. But always keep these guidelines in mind when linking to content.

Terms of Service

Yes, legalese is boring, but we must protect ourselves – and by extension, you and your data – against unfriendly folks. We have a Terms of Service describing your (and our) behavior and rights related to content, privacy, and laws. To use this service, you must agree to abide by our TOS.
