Browsing through a hierarchy can be very insightful. Defining and browsing hierarchies should be made more flexible and powerful. My suggestions:
-
First suggestion
-
Three options to define a hierarchy
- Nested references: [[partial superficial [[parotidectomy]]]]
- use in cases where the name of the sub-topic includes the name of the parent topic
- Using the slash: [[parotidectomy/extracapsular dissection]]
- use in cases where the name of the sub-topic does not include the name of the parent topic but you want it to appear with it
- Using a special page property: page property
parent
- e.g. in the page “enucleation” define the property
parent:: parotidectomy
- use in cases where the name of the sub-topic does not include the name of the parent topic and you do not want it to appear with it
- it is like defining an
alias:: enucleation
under the page “parotidetomy/enucleation”
- it is like defining an

Second suggestion
- Under the page “parotidectomy” following hierarchy will be listed (assuming
parotidectomy
is a subtopic ofSurgeries

- In the current implementation only parent topics appear under the
Hierarchy
section of a page - in my opinion it should be extended to list both parent and child topics as in the above example
