After first opening the app I see a sample page. Cool. A good opportunity to get familiar with the app, I thought.
But so far nothing I’m doing responds in an expected way. These are the issues I encountered within the first 5 minutes of using this app:
- click next to the bullet and type some text. hit enter (or click away) and… the text disappears? clicking next to the bullet again makes it reappear. huh?
- clicking ON any bullet makes the entire page go blank
- clicking the plus icon that appears (inconsistently) on hover below a bullet does nothing
- the header can be expanded and collapsed. cool but clicking the header makes it unexpandable without any apparent reason why or obvious way to switch to the previous mode. why?
- hitting tab when the cursor is on a bullet does nothing. it doesn’t indent the bullet. it doesn’t insert a tab.
- clicking Create > New page opens a command palette asking “What are you looking for?” instead of creating a new page
- clicking “Page graph” or “Help” does nothing
- clicking “Whiteboards”, then back to “Journals” shows the starter template again, and each time bullets are randomly indented and/or expanded/collapsed… and the expand/collapse triangle does nothing
Am I the only one encountering these issues?
hi skujmin,
I am a new user as well, I looked at the first 3 issues you noted and I do not seem to have them. Perhaps it might help if you specified the version and included screen shots? Ohoh, not sure images can be uploaded as yet.

Reinstalling seems to have fixed most of these issues.
4 and 6 (I should have numbered these) are still present but I think those are UX related.

are you referring to a journal/daily page title ? when you first open logseq, it’s in the “journals” view. it’s similar to the “river” in tiddlywiki : a scrollable list of all journals page, where each title/date can be collapsible – this view is specific to journals. Once you click on a date, you open the journal “page” : the actual file, this is the normal edit mode. If you want to go back to the all journals view, either click the journals
button in the left sidebar, the home
button from the top menu or click previous page
. Read more about this in the help/documentation
- clicking Create > New page opens a command palette asking “What are you looking for?” instead of creating a new page
the command palette (ctrl k
) is a multi tool : you can create pages, search or type commands.
once the palette is opened, type the name of your new page and choose create page
. this is actually a powerful feature to check if any page (or topic) already exists in your vault, so you can either open an existing page or create a new page from the same UI.
another way to create new pages is to simply type [[pagename]]
in a block. if the “pagename” doesn’t exist, it will create the new page, or else it will link to the existing “pagename”
Thanks for the explanations. That makes sense.
In isolation I would have assumed these were by design, although as a newbie I think some UI cues would have helped but I get that’s more of a refinement.
Regarding the disapearing bullets:
these are ‘nodes’ and have subnodes. When you click them, you open these in a ‘new page’ as in “you only see that node and its subnodes”. Hit “back button” to go to previous view.
My recommendation: don’t click on the bullets unless it is a large one and it is better to edit them separately.
Tabs are not inserted: they indent the bullet to be sub-bullet of the bullet above. You should see that though.
For the other issues: i don’t encounter them.

Also, there are videos on youtube. Most of these are tutorials.
Good luck!
Thanks. I appreciate all the responses here.
I should have started with re-installing, as all signs were pointing to something being way off. Strange that this seems to have been a completely isolated incident. Reassuring in a way I suppose except for feeling slightly crazy.
