Currently, if the destination page is empty, your cursor will go into “insert” mode, which makes sequential navigation more difficult. You can’t keep navigating g n/p because it will insert into the page.
That seems like a bug to me. The same effect doesn’t happen when you use ctrl+[ or ctrl+]. Maybe you should open an issue for this on GitHub instead of a feature request.
