How to go about encryting your data locally

so I want to encrypt my local data or at least let me read it once i put a password or something
so how I go about that since well the encryption feature was removed

from this thread there seems to be a problem from putting all the files in one folder well how I will handle that
what tool should should I use well sorry I’m a newbie

The usual answer to this is “use a local encryption tool like veracrypt, cryptomator etc or full disk like luks or filevault”, if this is for your laptop its perfect and you’re in good shape for threats that happen while you’re not logged on like theft and loss. To do this I’d recommend just installing cryptomator and then setting up logseq to use a directory in your vault. Remember that logseq also saves some data in a separate location to your normal notes directory, i think theres a “make portable” option to keep everything together.

This kind of encryption doesnt protect you in a “shared computer” situation! (not so obvious, but your work laptop is shared)
