Logseq as Primary, Tana as Complement: My PKM and PM Evolution

Hello Logseq community,

I’d like to share my journey with PKM tools, specifically my experience with Logseq and Tana.

My PKM path started with Logseq. I was drawn to its open-source nature, local data storage, and graph structure. After using it for a while, I decided to explore Tana, intrigued by its unique features.

I spent about 1.5 years deeply immersed in Tana, even becoming a Tana Navigator - an achievement I’m proud of and a perspective I still value. During this time, I appreciated Tana’s mobile capture tool, AI meeting assistant, and its structured data capabilities.

However, I recently decided to return to Logseq as my primary PKM. The main drivers were concerns about future-proofing and data accessibility. I needed assurance that my data would be easily retrievable and that I’d have full governance over it.

Now, I’m back with Logseq but exploring ways to integrate some of Tana’s strengths. I’m considering using Tana for quick mobile capture and as an incubation space for new ideas, before transferring important information to Logseq.

Regarding task management, I’ve been on a journey of my own. I started with Logseq’s built-in features, which I found sufficient for basic needs. I then experimented with a Logseq-Todoist combination, leveraging a helpful plugin. Currently, I’m reassessing my approach, considering whether to rely on Logseq’s native capabilities or return to the Logseq-Todoist tandem for more robust project management.

My main goals are to create a system that ensures data longevity, easy accessibility, and seamless integration between my knowledge management and task management workflows.

I’m curious to hear from others who’ve experimented with multiple PKM tools or have experience with Logseq-Todoist integration. How do you balance the strengths of different systems while maintaining a cohesive knowledge management approach? And for those using Logseq for task management, how do you handle more complex project structures? I know a bunch of super valueable forum conversations about Project Management already, from @Luhmann , @Ramses himself or other advanced users.
