My future with Logseq and LogseqDB

I have a few beginner questions and would be grateful for your indulgence.

Let me clarify right away: I don’t need to know when Logseq DB will be delivered. There are already enough threads on this subject. My question is about how it will change.

I started using Logseq three months ago for my professional activities. After comparing it with other PKMs, I prefer Logseq:

  • for its design, which I find efficient and suits me well
  • because it’s free software.

However, I have learned that Logseq DB is under development. This means that a new version of Logseq with significant changes will soon be available.

I’m at a stage in my professional life where I have to decide whether to continue using Logseq to manage my data and to-do list or to consider software like Notion or Obsidian (non-free software!), which I find less efficient, but which already offer functions that Logseq DB will offer. However, I don’t know when or if this will be the case.

So, here are my questions:

  1. Do we agree that LogseqDB will remain an application that I can install and use locally?
  2. My Logseq graph is a folder on my hard disk, and I regularly back it up on another hard disk. Can I do the same with LogseqDB?
  3. The task management system on the Logseq demo site suits me better than the current functions, especially the display of dates in the desired country format. In particular, I’m thinking of the #tasks hashtag and the display of table queries that enable tasks to be sorted in a certain order. Will my future LogseqDB installation include these practical functions? If so, do you have any information on what’s new in this area?
  4. Very important: I’ve already tried uploading my graph to the test version. Can you guarantee that the migration from Logseq to LogseqDB will be seamless?
  5. Will LogseqDB natively integrate the following useful functions:
    • Pandoc integration so that you can export a block or page in any format (ODT, Docx, PDF, etc.)? Currently, this is an extension, but I think it should be integrated into Logseq.
    • The same question applies to the To-Do List plugin, which displays a list of tasks

Thanks for your answers!
