NixOS: logseq has been removed, due to lack of maintenance and blocking the Electron 27 removal

When trying to update my NixOS packages (on Darwin) I received this surprise :frowning:

I think a bump to a new release that incorporates new electron version is necessary… but I do not think this will happen in the near future.

This is a known issue, also see:

A new release needs to be cut, which will happen when the feat/db branch gets merged back into main. There are a few blockers still for that. This is from @tienson in the Logseq Discord server:

There’re a few todos we want to be done before cutting a desktop release for the db version:

  1. Performance improvements, especially for app start time and large tables, this should be done in a few days.
  2. Markdown and EDN export support, this should be done in weeks.
  3. Test to ensure we don’t introduce regression bugs for file graphs before merging the db branch to the master branch, I don’t have an estimated date for this one.

I think wee need to have a security release of the only semi-stable version while the DB version is still in development. I know my $5 a month does not carry much weight but with Electron version in use is outdated and marked insecure · Issue #11644 · logseq/logseq · GitHub fixed and a contributor there successfully building and another also building without show-stoppers at Unable to resize window in native wayland with Electron 35.0.1 · Issue #11799 · logseq/logseq · GitHub it seems we can get an interim release so people have a choice other than run an insecure OS and version of Electron, compile their own, or stop using Logseq.

And i think that’s the conclusion in the edit at Understand heads-down on db features, but security/maintenance-releases for deps? (or turn on bot for version bump-PRs to review?) - #7 by londrik as well? So we need to ping somebody with the power to make a tag to release?
