The setting “prefer pasting file” is expected to download a file to assets, whenever I paste an URL to a file into a block. This setting doesn’t seem to work for me. Whatever I try or paste, an URL stays an URL and no file has ever been added to assets. What does it take to make this work?

Sorry nobody answered this and I missed the question @x-mode. And @quan_quan, welcome to Logseq!
Pasting an URL isn’t how it’s supposed to work. How it’s supposed to work is that you click on an image, click “Copy Image” and then paste it into Logseq. So the actual file has to be on the clipboard, not a URL to a file.
If the toggle “prefer pasting file” is on, then it’ll upload the file to the assets folder. If the toggle is off, it will not paste the file and instead only the URL to it.
