I would love an option for **semantic connectors**: visual connections that also create persistent, discoverable relationships between the original blocks or pages.
### Desired behaviour
When I connect Block/Page A to Block/Page B on a Whiteboard, I should be able to choose **Create semantic relationship**.
This should:
- Create a real relationship between the original items, not duplicate notes or create a separate graph.
- Show an outbound relation on A and an incoming backlink/relation on B.
- Remain available when either note is opened outside the Whiteboard, moved to another Whiteboard, searched for, or used in queries.
- Display the relationship label, direction, and source Whiteboard in linked references or properties.
- Let me click the relation from a block/page and open the relevant Whiteboard, ideally focused on that connection.
- Work with both blocks and pages.
### Keep two connector types
Not every arrow represents a lasting knowledge relationship, so please retain two clear options:
- **Visual-only connector:** exists only on that Whiteboard—for explanation, sequence, grouping, or presentation flow.
- **Semantic connector:** creates a persistent relation between the connected blocks/pages.
For semantic connectors, allow an optional labelled relationship, such as `relates to`, `supports`, `contradicts`, `causes`, `example of`, `part of`, or custom.
### Safety and clarity
- Removing a card from a Whiteboard must never delete the original block/page.
- When deleting a semantic connector, ask whether to remove only the visual line or also the underlying relationship.
- Moving or renaming blocks/pages should preserve the relationship.
- Show which Whiteboard created the relation, especially if the same notes are connected in different contexts.
- Ideally, allow filtering Whiteboard-created relations separately from ordinary in-text links.
