Updated to the new Logseq → Database graphs - can't figure it out :-)

Hey,
I’ve been supporting development and using sync with Windows PC and Android, and it has worked flawlesssly.
Today, using “check for updates” - I updated both my PC and phone (Android).

After updating the PC, I imported the local files. It failed with “db worker not started” or something similar. Some of the data came over, but mostly not.

I’ve been going through some of the documentation, and can’t seem to figure out how to move to the new version and retain my existing graph (which has been syncing between PC-Android).

Any ideas anyone?

  1. There is a discussion on whether or not the old version of Logseq should have prompted you to update to the DB version
  2. Logseq DB cant directly read your old graphs, so you need to import all your MD notes to a new DB graph (as you did correctly)
  3. If you werent able to import all your notes then its a bug. Please submit a bug report to Issues · logseq/db-test · GitHub with any console errors that show up (you can check the console with Ctrl Shift i)

To add some useful info, you can update to Logseq OG 1.0.0 instead, which is the continuation of the previous app, instead of complete rewrite and abandonment of the original working philosophy based on Markdown files. It keeps working with previous data folders as normal.

There is no way to know any of this from the update notification of course, here’s the announcement about this not too well handled split: https://logseq.io/p/e3YDyX5AYr

I’ve been using OG for a while now on Android and Windows and not had any trouble.

I would explore the DB version. It might not be quite your thing because it is a bit different but I think it’s pretty good honestly.

That is a known issue: Import of OG Graph broken · Issue #927 · logseq/db-test · GitHub

This is nothing you can fix.
