Using ⌘-L on a page or block reference sets up the link improperly

Expected behavior:

Highlighting [[reference]] and pressing ⌘-L would set up a link and alias that looks like:
[]([[reference]])

Current behavior:

Highlighting [[reference]] and pressing ⌘-L looks like:
[[[reference]]]()

Unfortunately this is problematic as this doesn’t achieve the goal of setting up an aliased link to a specific reference.
