What does ascii mean in the advanced command

I saw “ascii” is listed in https://docs.logseq.com/#/page/advanced%20commands. But what does it do? I enter “<ascii”, it displays
#+BEGIN_EXPORT ascii
#+END_EXPORT
I tried to type some string between, but nothing is displayed.
I couldn’t figure out what “ascii” means. Please help. Thanks.
